HYALURONIC ACID HYLO
The hyaluronic acid is a mucopolysaccharide present in the eyes and other parts of the body. Thanks to its special characteristics can join to several molecules of water present in the tear.
The molecules of hyaluronic acid differ in function of the length of the associated chain. Long chain molecules or high molecular weight, retain more molecules of water. At the same concentration of hyaluronic acid, the one with the highest molecular weight is the one that contributes the most viscosity. In addition, it has a greater hydration capacity and a longer residence time on the ocular surface.
NO PRESERVATIVES OR PHOSPHATES, IN THE PATENTED COMOD® SYSTEM
Preservatives are chemical substances used to guarantee the sterility of the product during its time of use. Preservatives are products capable of destroying or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, and despite their use at very low concentrations, they present cellular toxicity. Occasionally, they damage the cells of the ocular surface, cause instability in the tear film, and reduce the tear breakup time. This effect is just the opposite of what you want to achieve with the application of artificial tears.
Ectoin
Ectoin is a natural substance obtained from microorganisms that live in extreme environments. These microorganisms synthesize a molecule called ectoin to protect against extreme environmental conditions.
Ectoin increases the binding of water to ocular surface cells, and forms a physiological barrier in the conjunctiva that prevents the entry of potentially allergenic substances. At the same time, ectoin stabilizes the lipid layer of the tear film, and protects from excessive evaporation of tears.
TIPS to prevent the symptoms of ocular allergy
To prevent the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, the best way is to minimize or avoid contact with the allergen.
Below are a series of tips for patients with ocular allergy for better symptomatology or avoid its appearance:
Determine the type of allergy.
The most frequent in Spain are allergy to mites, pollen (most common: cypress, banana, olive and grasses) and animal hair. In the case of ocular allergies, those due to pollen are especially frequent.
Minimize contact with the allergen
(stay indoors, do not open the windows of cars and houses).
Use of sunglasses to reduce exposure. Especially the big and enveloping design.
Wash hands frequently to avoid contact of the allergen with the eye when rubbing these with the hands.
Minimize outdoor activities.
Avoid being in the street early in the morning as well as late in the afternoon because those are the hours with maximum exposure to pollen.
Use of artificial tears with protective effect to prevent contact of the allergen with the ocular surface.
