NO PRESERVATIVES OR PHOSPHATES

Preservatives are chemical substances used to guarantee the sterility of the product during its time of use. Preservatives are products capable of destroying or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, and despite their use at very low concentrations, they cause cellular toxicity. Occasionally, they can damage the cells of the ocular surface, cause instability in the tear film, and reduce the tear breakup time. This effect is just the opposite of what you want to achieve with the application of artificial tears.

In MONOFRESH, thanks to the container in the form of a single dose it is not necessary to use preservatives, since its instantaneous use for later discarding the open unit does not require its presence.

In addition to preservatives, many formulations of artificial tears contain phosphates as excipients. Phosphates, in presence of the calcium secreted by the damaged cells of the corneal epithelium, produce calcium phosphate. Calcium phosphate is a crystalline composite that precipitates on the ocular surface causing deposits and prevents regeneration and epithelization. For this reason, in eye drops intended for use in pathologies in which there is corneal damage, as in dry eye, the use of this excipient is discouraged.

MONOFRESH does not contain phosphates in its formulation, thus avoiding the formation of harmful deposits of calcium phosphate.

TIPS to Soothe Eye Irritation

  • Artificial tears

The periodic use of artificial tears based on long chain hyaluronic acid, reduces the feeling of discomfort associated with dry eye.

  • Frequent Blinking

Frequent blinking to evenly distribute the  tear and  keep the ocular surface hydrated. A decrease in blinking favors the appearance of dry eye.

  • Humidity

Stay away from dry environments and increasing the level of environmental humidity present in work and home areas. The use of humidifiers in winter is recommended.

  • Periodic Breaks

Perform periodic vision breaks when using the computer and / or other screens for long periods of time.

  • Appropriate glasses

Use of sun glasses to reduce exposure to sun and wind (environmental factors that increase eye dryness).

  • Nutritional supplements

Use of  nutritional supplements rich in omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) as well as minerals, antioxidants and vitamins.
